Semarang, [October 4, 2025] - Indonesia, as an archipelagic country with the second longest coast line in the world, has mangrove ecosystem as an important ecologic aspect. According to the Ministry of Forestry, Indonesia has a mangrove ecosystem covering 3.44 million hectares. Mangroves play a vital role in maintaining coastal and marine ecosystems, preventing erosion, and absorbing CO₂. Recognizing the importance of mangrove preservation, FKS Multi Agro organized a mangrove planting activity at Grand Maerakaca, Semarang, Central Java.

In this event, FKS Multi Agro planted 2,000 mangrove seedlings. This initiative is not the first of its kind but part of a continuing program that began in 2022. Since the start of the program, FKS Multi Agro has planted more than 4,000 mangrove seedlings in the Semarang area.

Pontjo Sardjono Tritojo, Branch Division Head – Central Java at PT FKS Multi Agro Tbk, explained the importance of this initiative. “As a city surrounded by coastal and water areas, Semarang is more vulnerable to flooding. Therefore, we are committed to protecting and expanding mangrove ecosystems as an essential step in safeguarding the planet from the climate crisis,” he said. Pontjo also expressed his hope that this mangrove planting activity will bring collective awareness to continuously care for and preserve the environment.

“We truly appreciate the initiative taken by FKS Multi Agro today as part of efforts to preserve mangroves. Hopefully, this activity will inspire others, especially those with operational activities in Semarang, to work together in protecting coastal areas,” said Ari Setyowati, Marketing Representative of PT PRPP Jawa Tengah (Perseroda).

In the future, FKS Multi Agro will continue to take part in various initiatives to protect biodiversity and care for the environment. This commitment is in line with one of the company’s sustainability pillars that focuses on environmental management.
